The story of our butcher’s shop
The butcher’s shop has been in the family for over two hundred years and can look back on an eventful past.
Everything started in 1760, when the farmer and cattle dealer Matthias Hell bought the house at 74 Hauptplatz in Welsberg and opened a butcher’s shop. Apart from the butcher’s in Bruneck, it was the only butcher’s in the Hochpustertal at the time.
Over the years, the butcher’s grew, a boarding house was built and it was handed down from father to son. It witnessed and survived world wars, economic crises and hard times – but our forebears never gave up and made the butchery business what it is today.
And that is why the butcher’s shop still stands today where it already stood in 1760. In the central square in Welsberg …
